She is a beautiful spirit... I will send her your admiration. And I thank you for your kind comments.

I had the honor of spending 3 days with Dead Can Dance in your beautiful country. I only wish I would have had time to look up Mr. Saudek.

well ... he is quite strange person.. in age 70 he is making babies, his gf didn`t married to him but took his name, she lived with him then with his son... man I can really see through this clan. I always liked his brother Kaja Saudek which was doing amazing artworks. Some of Jan Saudek photos are great but I cannot really handle him as person... I like work of Langhans for example... btw still thinks your pictures are better than work of Saudek

You are too kind. That sounds like the making of one crazy family picnic... I can tell by his photos that he is a lecherous mad man, bless his soul...

I don't know his brother's work but will look it up.

Again, thank you... you flatter me.

is it necessary to be crazy to be good artist? hope not

munkyhaus In reply to ElviraVonNosferatus [2007-03-05 17:27:45 +0000 UTC]

I don't think "crazy" is necessary... I believe there does need to be some form of agitation though. I recently heard some one say, "There can be no creative impulse in the absence of discontent." I think there is a certain amount of truth in that.

Great shot...
Since a long time I've had certain fascination towards people missing limbs, i think i was like that on a past life or something.

I feel bad at myself for having to photoshop someone to look like this.

Your pictures are absolutely breath-taking.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

munkyhaus In reply to abstract-red [2007-01-04 04:22:24 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much. Don't feel bad about using Photoshop to make pictures like this. I chose not to for this project. I'm not against photoshop, I just want people to understand tht that isn't what they are looking at. I take a lot of time and effort to create these photos in real time. I flew to chicago to photograph this girl. I don't want someone to just dismiss this as, "Oh, he photoshopped her arms off."

I started my first movie yesterday so I had to make a set that was "practical" in that it worked from many different angles. I tremendous amount of work but so gradifying. I'm really happy with the film so far.

I love this photograph. I read on missshyly's page that you use an antique camera...if you don't mind me asking, are you actually using an antique camera or is it a modern view camera? I ask because this somewhat resembles an antique wet plate method negative, like a collodion process or something of the like...I don't mean to be nosey, I would just be very interested to hear a little about your process...

This is one of the most striking photos I have ever seen. Undoubtedly there would be people who would consider this photo freakish, but she’s not a freak she’s beautiful! I thinks its really amazing how you managed to handle such unusual subject matter with such grace. This photo does nothing to hide the fact that she has no arms, but it does not have any exploitative quality to it.

Wow, what a beautiful woman. I think the lack of shoulders is really striking - you don't miss the arms as much and your eye is drawn to her beautiful face as if she were a carved bust.

I'm rather awed by the thought of her eating a burger with her feet. That, my friend, is no easy task with no opposable thumb, and it's difficult enough then!

Just... wow.
