Description
This piece started out as something simplistic, but it grew into a whole nostalgic trip down memory lane. I took a lot of inspiration from an old game I played a ton of as a kid called Pandanda. It was very similar to Club Penguin, although the art style was different (better in my opinion) and the whole game had a woodsy aesthetic. You'd make a red panda character, interact with other people, take part in events, decorate your own treehouse. It was my first exposure to role-playing online and it was a lot of fun. Sadly, the game shut down in 2012. 11 years later and it still breaks my heart. But thankfully, a lot of the game was recorded, so I could still find tons of references to use for this piece. In particular, this is based off of the Book Nook, the library location in the game. And then Alto is of course reading my favorite book of all time, "Dragon Rider" by Cornelia Funke. Overall, this piece was very fun and kind of emotional to work on, but in a good way. I'll always miss Pandanda and it'll forever hold a special place in my heart. This piece is my love letter to it <3
