you could have put a little bit of cyan on the frozen planet... and probably some rings around it [as we all know the planet rings are made from frozen dust so - an ideal element to add

Love the definition in this. The details are so, SO intricate! I really admire this. The terrain and clouds are done so nicely. It looks so real! The lighting works too!

But what do you think of the background space of this one? Is it too vibrant and detailed? I feel that it takes attention away from the planets themselves

Maybe on the right side. The lighting up in the clouds kind of takes away from the planets, but it isn't too detailed. Just darken it a bit and then it's good.

I really don't know where to start with it though, that's the only thing holding me back. I've never really created any art in Photoshop without a cartoony sort of look :/

Ah I see. Before these everything in Photoshop I've made was just grungy looking. SO a few months back I found some tutorials for space and made some space art, that was Horrible! [link] There it is.
So I stopped making space art and decided to leave it to the pros lol. I was too embarrassed
Then I decided to try again, Without tutorials this time, and I just did what I thought would make it look best. and it worked i suppose
But if you need help, I would gladly do so

I get a bit intimated by the pros, lol. But I suppose most artists are intimadiated by each other, and I suppose it gives you even more of a reason to strive to improve
