EDIT : I'm a little bit overwhelmed by the "success" of this drawing. I'm not used to that, well not that much. I'll answer to all the comments, but I can't thank all of you personnally for the faves.I'm extremely happy and grateful, for every single fave

Trying my hand at "realistic" drawing.
I think I finally managed to do something pretty good. (or at least I hope so... ^^)
Tell me your opinion about it, it really helps to improve.

Thank you very much for this very instructive critic. I haven't found the time to draw in a while, so I hope that as soon as I can hold a pencil again, I'll be able to try to improve myself. I agree with every single thing you said. Realistic drawing is sooooo hard, so I'm putting your precious advices in a corner of my head for my next try.

Well I think for your first try that its well done. The face is recognizable and your outline is solid. I guess my feed back would be: That the back ground looks a little rushed. I thought his hair turned out well but the eye brows seem a bit too liney. The whites of the eyes need a bit more shading. "however I realize that light shading tends to drop out when a drawing is scanned". All in all I think its a great piece that you should be proud of. I going to add a link here to a site that has some great techniques on drawing portraits. Anyway good job keep it up.

First of all, thank you very much for the critique. This is very nice of you.
You're totally right, the background is rushed. 
Backgrounds are not my thing, but I'll try to improve on that point.
And yes, the scan took off some of the shadings. :-/.

Yes, I understand that. And you know what, those people shouldn't ask for critiques...
So don't worry. For my part, every advice is welcome. Critiques, good or not, makes me improve.
And I'm really grateful that people like you take the time to post some, especially because it's not an easy thing to do.

I can't give a huge critique beyond that I love how this turned out. The eyes are amazing (possibly my favorite part of the human anatomy) and I love your technique. I don't care much for complete realistic drawings; in my personal opinion, realism can be left to dominate through photos, even though I find it amazing when people can capture reality on a page--I understand that this may be what you were going for, and you did wonderfully, except you could've used more shading, if you like that kind of thing
