It's all about the two little boys in the right corner for me. I love the window frame as well. Off to the right (out of picture) is a local mine clearing team, I'll try to find that picture as well. Afghanistan is the most mine ridden place on earth, we were told that as a result of the Russian/Afghanistan war, at current rate, it would take something like 2000 years to clear all the mines layed. All day long we would hear a boom, sometimes ground shaking, from the mine clearing, little kids like these would be rushed to our base medical facility all the time because of old mines or unexploded ordinance.Related content

The "V" marks look more like ticks, which seems very metaphorical. "Ticking" is generally a good thing, but with a story like that to go with it, I don't know. Touching picture.

and the sad thing is the we(*) sold (and still are selling) them the mines...

It's so sad that children are still dying at the cause of an old and finished war. Excellet shot, by the way. The photo makes me thoughtful.

mmm yeah mines are a bugger over there, i've heard. an Australian SAS soldier was killed when he drove over a mine.... great shot, i look forward to more.
