Description
They swirl through the night, glittering like stars.15x20" Mixed media (ink, watercolor and colored pencil) done on hot press illustration board.
I was playing with using warm and cool tones to resonate against each other to make the image more vibrant.
This is a spin-off from my drawing Brigid's Dance, which recieved a much stronger reception than I was expecting.
I decided to do her as a painting, and she morphed into this.

Amazing! I love the whole atmosphere of this. It's serene and full of joy at the same time. The dragon is a stunningly beautiful creature! And I absolutely love the details - in her dress, the ornaments on the dragon, and her hair looks so soft.

Gorgeous! Your move with the colors worked, apparently. I really admire you people who can work with real paint. I'm just an amateur sketch artist with a knack for Photoshop, so it seems very special to me. Especially when you're so good at it! I love the knotwork on the border and on her dress, and the dragon is so pretty.

Well, there's probably an equal amount of colored pencil on there as there is watercolor, so I'm not sure if it really counts as "real paint". You can get a lot more detail with those pencils that with WC alone.

A truly amazing piece! Far higher in caliber than 99% of the submissions that sluice in daily here. The ornate appearance of the dragon is perfectly suited with the incredibly detailed apparel that the girl is wearing (the patterns above the hemline especially). The celtic knotwork on the border is an amazing freehand accomplishment in and of itself, and the blues just solidify the entire thing. Technically and creatively brilliant, I'm very impressed by the talent displayed. Easy

Wow. Thanks for the really wonderful compliments. I'm so glad that you like it. I believe that this is the first painting I've done primarily in blues, and I was worried that the colors might all be too similar to really "pop" but I think it worked out pretty well.

I like how the dragon looks so realistic, which I know is hard to do sometimes beacuse they aren't real.

Thanks! I have busy hands, so I need to find something to do with them. Pictures with lots of detail are actually kind of relaxing for me. It's almost more like meditation than actual work. I'm weird that way.
