We really love them, they're amazing little animals!
Species: Eurasian Harvest Mouse (Dwergmuis)
Latin name: Micromys Minutus
Originates from Eurasia.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…It is the smallest European rodent, with adults weighing no more than 4 to 11 grams and measuring between 55 and 75 mm.
…They use their naked-tipped, highly prehensile tail for climbing and balance. They also have a somewhat opposable outermost toe allowing it to grasp stems with each stemfoot and tail. This frees their front paws for food collection.
…The Harvest Mouse has recovered from a Near Threatened status but is up in numbers due to conservation efforts.
