Description Photo taken in June, 2016 @ Gaia Zoo, The Netherlands

Even with these three ducklings in a row, we can't tell exactly which is a Wood, and which a Mandarin duckling
Yet I haven't come across a duckling I didn't fall in love with, so let's say they're simply all adorable

Species: Wood Duck (Carolina eend)

Latin name: Aix Sponsa

Originates from North America.

Current status: Least Concern

Species: Mandarin Duck (Mandarijneend)

Latin name: Aix Galericulata

Originates from parts of Japan.

Current status: Least Concern

It's kind of weird, though I have to admit, the adult females also look alike

I took 13 of the ones near me( tiny chick ducks) and fed them almost daily and kept the predators away and almost ALL of them lived for the first time I'm proud to say. I can't help falling under their charms either but then....I love all animals no mater who they are.

I've heard how hard it can be to ensure a whole nest or litter survives; it's not easy, but wow, compliments to you for taking them all into adulthood
Ducklings are forever baby favorites of mine, but then again, I love all animals as well

Me too...I love all of them and still to this day...I can never understand how anyone can hurt one for any reason. How we can destroy elephants, cats, gorillas and giraffes, whales and all those is beyond my comprehension. Man-kind are the only vicious animals that can't be trusted.
Human beings have killed hundreds of millions of our own species in world wars alone, so why would they stop with animals? Pathetic isn't it?

All the best always.

You have no idea how much time we spend browsing through all the photos we took, to see if we could figure out the difference.
But no such luck, though I have to say at least the one in front looks a bit paler than the other. But of course, there's the individual differences as well

So glad you like it!
