Personality: Otho enjoys travelling. When he was about six, he went with his Aunt Jemima on a train to visit her friends and fell in love with travelling from that moment. With a strong personality, Otho can come across as being rude or overeager. This does not mean that he does not have his quieter moments. He swears a lot, admonishing himself whenever he swears too profusely, a habit he picked up from his Aunt.

Backstory:

The only child of the Prospero family, Otho didn’t know much security when he was growing up. Born a few short years before the Great War, his father enlisted in the Johtoan Navy and died in service after the ship he was serving on sunk in a torpedo strike. His mother, however, was a frail lady and was only able to cope with his care for a short while, perishing after a short bout of influenza shortly after receiving the news of her husband’s death- some say it was grief, although Otho doesn’t agree that his mother would simply die because she was upset.

Custodianship of the young Otho fell to his Paternal Aunt, Jemima, a stern lady whose face and mannerisms gave the general impression of a Granbull chewing on a Beedrill. Spending his schooldays at a boarding school just outside Goldenrod, Otho spent his summers languishing in boredom and resentment for not being allowed to associate with his neighbours as his Aunt Jemima said that they were, ‘Not the sort of people a respectable young gentleman would associate with’.
Upon leaving the education system with average grades and a recommendation from his teachers that he would be suited to menial work, his Aunt Jemima tried to drum the basics of business skills into him, with limited success. Growing sour from the constant annoyance of his aunt, Otho rebelled and decided to get a job as a Courier, much to the disappointment of Jemima, who refused to allow him in the house anymore.
Using his Couriering job to get by, he got a small apartment overlooking the harbour at Olivine.
When War broke out fairly recently, Otho got conscripted and uses his Couriering skills to deliver important messages and packages to whomever it was that he had to deliver them to.

Other:

• Miranda was his first pokemon, given as a Chikorita, the nickname of which was meant to be a joke from someone who was picking fun of Otho’s surname, so Otho decided to embrace the joke and name all of his pokemon after this fashion.
• Otho’s a little reserved at first glance, but once you know him, you either love him or hate him.
• His favourite alcoholic drink is Gin and Tonic with cranberry juice. After that, it’s whisky. If he can’t get any alcohol, he prefers a coffee, no milk, two sugars..

Relationships

Aunt Jemima: He doesn’t really harbour any long time grudges against his Aunt, but wishes she would butt out of his life as it feels like she is always sticking her nose into Otho’s personal matters despite forswearing having nothing to do with him.

Pokemon:

Miranda | Bayleef | Calm| Overgrow| Female

Miranda was a surprise, for Otho expected to be given something small and manageable, like a Pidgey, however, appearances are deceiving and the Bayleef soon surprised Otho with her speed, easily matching Otho when on his motorbike. Otho has toyed with making a saddle for Miranda, but has decided to sort it out only when he has the time and the resources to make one.
Miranda doesn’t really like warfare, and has an unfortunate habit of freezing in the thick of battle. Otho suspects that she was maltreated during the capture process, therefore, he prefers not to use her to defend himself out of a misguided idea that he is doing her a favour.

Sycorax | Houndoom | Bold | Early Bird | Female

An unusually powerful Female, Sycorax is a brute of a dog that would not hesitate to attack her enemies. Luckily for Otho, Sycorax views him as her friend and obeys his commands well. It is often a rare occasion that Sycorax disobeys Otho’s commands and it is only for a good reason.
Sycorax has a very loud baying howl, sending chills up Otho’s spine whenever she howls. Otho believes that when she was wild, she was the Alpha Female of her pack as her behaviour and the way she holds herself suggests to him that she was a high-ranking pack member.

Ariel (Ah-Rye-El) | Crobat | Impish | Infiltrator | Male

Originally received as a Zubat, Otho befriended the Crobat with relative ease and saw him quickly evolve twice into his Crobat form now. The Crobat’s wings are strong enough to slice through tires, and Otho has used this ‘neat trick’ to get him out of tight spots whenever Otho had to deliver packages to the forces on the front line.
Ariel used to drink Otho’s blood when he was a Zubat, but after several unfortunate accidents involving a sleeping Otho, the Crobat learnt that Otho was a friend and not a food-source. As an extra precaution, Otho keeps Ariel in his pokeball whenever he has to sleep, just in case Ariel forgets.
