let's say, Alastor has been testing Charlie's love for him. Eventually, he ends up hurting her too much, even hurt her on the shoulder not so by accident. That was the breaking point for Charlie--she hurt him back and turned her back to him. He didn't think she'd eventually --let him go, but she did. He broke her heart and there is no turning back. He asks her to do whatever she wants but not let go, however, it is already too late.
