Description This is the 86th piece in my Industrial Heart collection, entitled, Defending the Dream.

Like most of my Industrial Hearts, this piece starts with an anatomically correct human heart made from polymer clay - the base. With all of the components of a real human heart, it has also been made to look metallic and Industrial with its panelling and rivets. Gears, metal findings, and other various things are also added.

The entire thing has been antiqued with black acrylics to give it an aged and used feel. As always, there is a stainless steel loop in the back which will be attached to a keyring style jump ring and strung onto a necklace.

This particular heart was made for a ladies husband who happens to be a soldier fighting overseas - that's where the name of the heart, "Defending the Dream" comes from. Those words are also painted in dark brass on the back of the heart.

She adored my Barbed Rosette heart, and wanted the barbed wire in the front but wanted a brass half-bitten apple in the middle. In the back is an ivy vine, as Ivy is her husbands nickname for her. There is a silver ankh charm in the bottom representing their relationship - eternal.

It's wonderful that the representations are on either side of the heart as well, linked by the chain and ankh charm. May they have their happily ever after.

I agree - I wish everyone could have their happily ever after. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way, though...
