This is exactly what a hyper-realistic Yoshi would look like. Just give it a naturally occurring saddle on its back and hiking boots on its feet.

The spinL curviture looks painful and odd for a theropod but then again this is speculative so...

Interesting design. I'm fascinated at how they still retain the traditional theropod anatomical structure yet are vaguely humanoid with their erect, vertical stance. Do you consider that such a stance will be necessary for intelligent beings derived from animals used to living with bodies aligned horizontally?

Emm... it's difficult to explain on english.
That such a stance related to brain weight + free forelimbs.
Front part of the bodyΒ takes up a vertical position to better use a forelimbs, and heavy brain must be close to center of mass.
That is my first work, and it's full of errors(stance too erect). Third version of dinosauroid is more correct
Sorry for my english. That was google translator.

i literally just this second found out about the dinosauroid.
very interesting. i saw that many people in the scientific community think the initial design of it is too humanoid
but yours is very much like what i would imagine it would be like.
this is fan-freekin-tastic.

You know, if the dinosaurs never went extinct, and they continued to evolve, then by today some species of raptor would hve evolved into something that looked exactly like this! Nicely done!

Its a bit too transitional for me seeing as it looks like it is heading for the almost human direction but isn't done yet though thats just my opinion.

This is an excellent, excellent version of the dino-sapient! I'm most impressed, actually, by the natural, realistic pose you've given him, and the care with which you rendered the hands and feet. (My only quibble is with the eyes - you just need a few brighter highlights on them to imply wetness.)

Martin-Flowers In reply to povorot [2013-01-27 15:46:08 +0000 UTC]
Also, having the shadow come from the top, to imply depth. It might not be technically correct, but I've always done it as a kind of visual shortcut. It seems to work...
