Description If there's any typos or confusing grammar, let me know. I did my best to proofread. >o<

Helpful Hints:
If you have a padded cup, traditionally, the pad goes under the bust to push up the breast. Yoko, however, has what is affectionately known as “underboob”, so if you intend to attempt underboob, you may consider facing the padding in a different direction so that it lays better and doesn’t want to fall under your bust like it is designed to. Mine, for instance, are on the insides, facing each other, as I found this most comfortable.

You may line your pads if you like. I left mine unlined and it has not been a bother to me.

When applying the cord around the neck and on the front, make sure your cord is not twisted and will lay flat when worn.

The reason I don't recommend PVC (especially non stretch) is that because it is not a regular fabric with just fibers, as it is treated with a chemical on top, so once you punch a hole in it with the needle, that hole is not going to recover very well. In other words, if you mess up and have to rip out some stitches, it's probably going to show. On top of that, if it's non stretch, PVC doesn't drape very well.

Also note, this is simply how I made my top! Many people alter plain bikinis or sew their own, but I like the shape and fit of the padded bikini cups as opposed to a flat triangle. On top of that, it's rather sleek! There is more than one way to cosplay, so be sure to check out some other tutorials if you're needing extra assistance. In the meantime, I'd love to answer any questions you may have.

I wish I'd seen this when I was working on my Yoko cosplay. I'll definitely be using this as a reference in the future when I go for a second attempt though~

You think you could make a tutorial on how to make the rifle? I can't find a good tutorial on how to make a three-dimensional one and not a cardboard version...

It's not a tutorial per se, but I do have an album on Imgur that tracks my progress. I eyeballed a lot of things on it, so the math is sort of lost to the ages. XD It was the first prop I ever made, so I wasn't expecting it to come out lasting strong after 6 cons, otherwise I might have taken more care to make it into a tutorial type thing!

Here's the album with some brief info on each photo: [link]

Thanks! It looks really helpful. I eventually want to make the prop and cosplay as Yoko myself, but in the mean time I'm in the "gathering materials" phase. Thank you!

question. where in the actual hell does one find bikini cord? Jo-ann's nor michaels had it.
fabulous tutorial, it only took me a couple tries to get the bikini together. :>

I got mine from an actual bikini (an American flag bikini, to be precise) but there are also ways to make it using a loop turning tool and some red spandex/milliskin/tricot, etc. I've not yet attempted to make any such cord, but now I know how they do that seamless look! :3

No problem! Yeah, I had to use a plain red cord, sort of like soutache braid when I first did Yoko, but the darn thing was super uncomfortable and would not stay tied. But once you do run into something that works, it's easy enough to replace. ^_^

omg paint
For so long I couldn't figure out how people got the perfect flames because the ones I like never look sewn on. It was paint. I feel so dumb.
But now I know. This is great!

Glad you figured it out at last! Jacquard Fabric paint is truly truly a magical thing and is perfect for designs like this. It's super opaque, so a lot of people also use that to paint onto black body suits for antispiral Nia among other nifty things. :3

Oh, and it's also super great for painting shoes. ^_^ Both my Yoko and Nia shoes are completely painted with it, since I couldn't find shoes in the right colors and styles.

What about the shorts? I see so many bad shorts and always wonder where the good ones come from or how they're made.

I'll have to consider doing one on the shorts, but I think the reason that there are so many "bad" ones is that they're so challenging, and for a reason! XD People have different shapes, but probably no area more than the pelvis region, especially on ladies. I have deduced that that is probably why it is darn near impossible to find a pattern for small shorts, especially one as tiny as Yoko's!

Though, I think the best methods (for beginners) would be to find leggings or cheap bike shorts and cut them to Yoko's size. One could either use that, finishing the seams of course, or take them apart and actually use it as a pattern to make their own in a nice material. Another way to go about it is to get a pattern for swim suits/bikinis, one that has bottoms and alter the bottom to have more of a short shape. :3
