Personality
Positive = [Optimistic] [Earnest] [Resilient] [Paternal]

Optimistic
He always has something cheerful and positive to say.  He makes an effort to comfort his clanmates in times of distress, using methods like cracking jokes or displaying raw dramatic emotion to express empathy.  For example: if prey has been stolen, he’ll scoff about the incompetence of the thieves.  He always has faith that StarClan has their paws in all the clans’ affairs, and he truly believes they will make things work out in the end.

Earnest
Just about everything he does is sincere.  He never says anything he doesn’t mean and he holds to his beliefs with intense conviction.  This can sometimes make him seem simple, as he’ll rarely question the motives of his leader or StarClan; he simply follows and trusts, and encourages others to do the same.

Resilient
He’s a sturdy guy.  Nothing really tires him out.  If he was a horse, he’d be a Clydesdale.  If he was a Pokemon, he’d be like an Aggron or something, he just survives.  He’s fallen from great heights, fought predators, and almost drowned, and no ordeal has slowed him down for long.  He jokes that he fights off illness and injury because the smells of the medicine cat’s den make him retch.

Paternal
He loves kits and hopes to be a father one day.  He gives this love to anyone younger or weaker than himself, making him a softie of a mentor.  This also makes him something of a natural leader, despite his clownish behaviors—he wants to be a protector and teacher to all the members of his Clan, and he will always treat those beneath him with kindness.

Neutral = [Naïve]

Naïve
He can often seemed dazed and a bit dull.  He has an almost perpetual smile plastered on his muzzle, and when he doesn’t have anything to do he’ll doze or goof off in other ways.  If others pester him about his laziness, he’ll play dumb.  Additionally, he doesn’t understand much about romance.  It doesn’t make him nervous, but he’ll often say things that make him seem ignorant.

Negative = [Dark Temper] [Disobedient] [Schizophrenic]

Dark Temper
Largely due to his mental disorder, when he gets angry, he gets scary as hell.  If he has a personal vendetta against an enemy, he won’t ever let up while fighting them.  They could be pleading for mercy and he wouldn’t hear them, he would just scream and rip their freaking throat out or something.  He essentially becomes a different cat when he’s mad, a cat who revels in inflicting pain and is sure of words (so basically he becomes creepy-sexy when enraged).

Fickle
He’ll blindly follow whoever happens to be above him at the time, but if something more appealing or persuasive comes along, he’ll change his convictions.  It hasn’t presented any problems for him yet—he’s been able to behave as a normal, loyal warrior.

Schizophrenic
It’s not as severe as it could be, but Rook has hallucinations and hears voices when his emotions are raw.  His hallucinations manifest in a variety of ways—sometimes he sees mangled specters of his loved ones, or his malicious brother, or a doppelganger of his angry self.  When he hears voices, they are gentle and quiet, and often encourage him to act viciously toward his enemies.  His disorder hasn’t yet been noticed by any of his clanmates, but it’s slowly wearing him down.

History
Pre-Birth
Dolly and David were two rogues who wandered the Twolegplace, rarely straying into the forest of the Clan cats.  They traveled as a pair, fighting and hunting together, until they eventually conceived a litter of kits.  Two small black toms were delivered, Rook and Tire.

Kit
Rook was always a happier kit than his brother.  He took an immediate shine to his mother, taking care of her to the best of his ability and listening eagerly to her bedtime stories.  As he grew older, he began to notice more and more that David did not treat his mother with the kindness Rook felt she deserved.  He also realized that there was something wrong with the cruel way his father treated him and his brother, pushing them to be vicious in their fighting and to kill for sport.  He cursed the fact that he wasn’t old or big enough to defend Dolly.

Eventually, the family was split, with Dolly favoring Rook and David favoring Tire.  Rook couldn’t understand why his brother was becoming just as surly and abusive as their father, and one night he pleaded with Tire to leave David and join him and Dolly, revealing his mother’s plan to run away from her mate.  Tire refused and betrayed Dolly’s secret to David.  Rook and his mother narrowly escaped the angry tom with their lives, running into the forest they’d feared for so long.

It didn’t take long for a patrol of clan cats to find them.  When the mother and kit showed no resistance, they brought the pair to their leader for judgment.  Dolly pleaded with the leader to let them stay, explaining their past and promising that they would serve the clan well.  After a few days of deliberation, the clan welcomed them into the fold, and Rook was soon given the name Rookpaw.

Apprentice
Rookpaw’s training was relatively normal, until a few moons in when the tom began to notice strange things happening to him.  He would hear muted whispers when he was alone in the apprentice’s den.  At night, he would see flashes of violet eyes and black pelts, and hear the familiar growl of his estranged family.  He hid his paranoia well, disguising it beneath a happy exterior.  The false cheerfulness eventually became his whole identity, and even he couldn’t distinguish when he was or wasn’t faking it.

Rookpaw’s training goes well, but his schizophrenia starts to emerge

Warrior
Rooktail advanced quickly through his clan after receiving his warrior name.  He’d grown to considerable size and discovered that he was durable.  He could take extra patrols, skimp on sleep, and eat very little while still being able to get by.  He soon earned the respect of the entire clan.  While age gained him skills as a warrior, it also worsened his mental condition.  The whispers became louder; the anger became stronger; and the apparitions of David and Tire became more and more tangible.

The closest his clanmates came to realizing there was something wrong was during his first real border dispute.  He faced off a large black tom who bore a striking resemblance to his brother.  As he gained the upper hand in the fight, be became almost blind with rage, screaming his brother’s name as he ripped into the unfortunate tom.  His enemy barely escaped with his life as his clanmates snapped him out of the furious trance.  Since then, he’s been more careful about who he’s facing in battle, for fear that the anger will eventually consume him.

His endurance and respectability eventually earned him the title of deputy after the previous deputy passed away.  He accepted the rank graciously, but secretly feared that if ever he were to become leader, everyone would learn of his insanity.  He buries the fear for now, still appearing just as happy and oblivious as ever.  Things are going well so far…

Cricketleap groaned in pain after the impact.  After the initial sting passed, she tried to stand up, only to find that her back legs had gone completely numb.  Her eyes widened in fear as she twisted her neck to look down at her limbs--they didn't appear broken.  Stay calm, she tried to tell herself.  Stay quiet and calm, wait for the feeling to come back.  She bit back a gasp of alarm when she heard a voice ring down from above.  She looked up to see an unfamiliar cat picking its way down the rocky slope.  SkyClan, she-cat...  Cricketleap quickly processed the information carried in the cat's scent.  Foxdung, she's going to attack me...!

When the she-cat expressed concern, Cricketleap took a few moments to reply.  "Uh...um, no, I'm not.  I can't feel my legs."  The SkyClan cat wasn't going to hurt her, so she knew that she was going to need her help if she was going to survive.  "M-my name's Cricketleap, I'm so sorry, I wasn't trespassing, I just--"  A pained moan cut her off.  Feeling had returned to her legs, but they felt shattered and achy.
