Description
New drawing of professional boxer Roy Jones Jr.He was the best pound for pound fighter in the nineties winning titles at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.
I love to watch boxing. I watched most of Roy Jones fights last year and he's probably my fav boxer.
I plan to do a drawing of another boxer later on.
Color ball point pens and felt tip pens.
A4 size paper.
Completed in just over 2 weeks.
Full view is recommended.

Love the amount of detail in this piece!
The structure is fantastic; all the muscles are properly defined and the facial expression is spot-on. All those little lines and what others might see as minor details added up to an excellent piece 
I have a similar piece that I did this past spring during my Life Drawing class: [link] Nowhere near the level of detail you have here, but I figured you'd enjoy it all the same.

Roy is one of those guys that can't except that there is a life after boxing. He wants to be 25 years old forever.

Yeah and it looks that way for another of my fav boxers Shane Mosley. Did you see his comeback fight against Pablo Cano? I thought Mosley did enough to win on points but he was getting hit way too much.

Well when you get older,especially if you had quick feet back in your prime,you will be hit more. This is Shane;s reality now. He will be hit more and he will not be able to get punches off like he did 10 years ago. Happened, to Ali,Holyfield,Jones,
Toney etc

I agree with you which is why I question Mosley still fighting. Does he need the money or is he trying to win one more world title?

Of course they all want one more title but I just think some guys have a hard time letting go. Some guys dont see much of a life after fighting I guess. Have to be dragged out of the ring. Accepting that you are older and cant do the things you once did has to be a weird feeling.

A great champion and a true showman! That match with Calzaghe was a real shame though. No discredit to Calzaghe, but Jones was well beyond his prime by then. This is a great drawing, and a lovely representation of him.

I agree. Roy Jones was never the same after he won the heavyweight title. Making the weight to fight Tarvers afterwards at lightweight really weakened Jones. I always wonder how he would have done against Tarvers, Glen Johnson and Calzaghe had he not moved up to heavyweight.

Very happy you think that. I've done afew male bodies but not to this level of detail and especially not with body hair so it was difficult. I spent alot of time on this so I really appreciate your nice comment.
