This picture is in loving memory of a man who's face I have never seen before, a man who I never interacted with, nor who's name I uttered until learning it this morning. If you aren't aware, which I am sure you are if you are local to the US, the Midwest got hit particularly hard by a bad storm. Michigan got hit really hard especially in my neck of the woods. Transformers around town combusted, trees fell, there are still limbs and downed wires to clean up. One county away from mine, there was a man who made the ultimate sacrifice. He gave his life in his efforts to keep people safe. He lost his life when a limb fell not far from where he stood and he was in the path of the wire that the limb tore down. For the moment, his name is going to remain quiet on my part out of respect for his family. I will be editing this if there is a time where they are alright with that choice, as I shall be asking respectfully for their permission after they have been given time to be human beings. While he deserves to have his name shouted from the rooftops, I understand that his family is entitled to their privacy. If there is such a time that his family opens up a fundraiser, I will make this into a print and give the proceeds of any sales to the family, as well as any others.

This picture is of the growth in my flower beds in the aftermath of the ice storm. It reminds us that even beautiful things can have consequences we as people sometimes don't realize. Please remember to thank your vets and first responders for their civil service and their sacrifices in times of rough situations like these. Do not take for granted that hug to your loved one, that phone call, or that sacrifice that sometimes means the end of one's life in the line of duty. Please check on any friends and loved ones if you are able to, pray if you pray, think if you think, do whatever it is to appreciate what we have.
