Ahh yes, the mighty Tengu! In a close second only to mythical Giants as my favorite fantasy monsters go (and in a tie with Succubi and Lovecraft's menagerie).

I love the bizarre nature of the Tengu; how fearsome, dangerous and outright weird they can be, but unlike most Yokai (and again, similar to the Baku) are almost always portrayed as heroes. Plus those feathered fans of theirs, with the power to create powerful bursts of winds, has got to be one of the niftiest weapons in all of folklore!
