the little octopus lives legions deep under the sea, down in a place called echo grove.

echo grove is very dark, because the sun has to travel so far to reach it; and there are not many creatures who call it home. certainly, some might say it is a very lonely place to live.. even with a school of fish passing through, and the odd anemone or two, it can still be very quiet. you or I might not like it, but then again, we are not made to live underwater.

the little octopus, however, loves echo grove for the very reasons that most people do not. you see, every day, the little octopus swims to and fro, traveling far away from his home. the little octopus travels all over the ocean in search of adventure, things that are new and different to him. he sees many places, faces, and creatures... some are very interesting, and some make the little octopus very scared, but he never knows what he might find... so he takes his chances, and keeps looking, just the same.

the little octopus spends the whole day doing what many creatures (and some humans, too) wish they could only do. to be so free, to see so much! waking up to a new discovery every morning! how lucky he must be! many creatures might be very jealous of him, but the little octopus thinks those creatures very silly. when you are stuck doing the same thing every day, it is easy to be jealous, isn’t it?

but the little octopus continues on, unaware. he is only happy to return to his quiet, dark little sea cave in echo grove every night. maybe the little octopus used to look at other creatures and feel the same way as we do, but he certainly doesn’t now. sometimes, it is easier to appreciate things others may take for granted when you approach every opportunity with a positive attitude, just like the little octopus does.

somewhere, in the watery shadows of echo grove, there is a little octopus, nestling into his sea cave.. reflecting on all his adventures of the day in the quiet peace, and eagerly awaiting the morning ahead..
