Description this shot was taken at dusk...on our ranch in northern new mexico.

growing up on a ranch was a fun, but lonely experience...with human playmates miles away.

one day a stray dog just showed up on our doorstep and refused to go away...after much convincing on my part, we kept him and I named him joshua...a man described in exodus as strong, faithful, humble, deserving and wise.

....joshua became my constant, best and often only friend (sad to say) for many years through childhood and adolescence.

we would explore the ranch together, me on horseback and josh running along side.

[tech specs: the photo is done on my Olympus OM-1; to get the high contrast I shot on Tri-X B&W, and under-exposed the film, but then over-developed the print, which itself was on an Ilford multigrade paper (filtered at 4) then scanned the B&W.]

btw, I know the title is dorky...(true, but dorky).
