I most certainly am! Since the Amiga days, of hundreds of floppy disk changes and "Dial-a-pirate" code wheels XD It was my dad who got me into them - I used to sit and watch him play them and "help" him with the puzzles XD Definitely one of my favourite gaming franchises!
It's true, though since Telltale released Tales of Monkey Island, there's been a lot more fans popping up in recent years! Which is awesome. For a long time, I felt like a lonely Monkey Island fan too, and it's always awesome to meet fellow fans How appropriate, you comment like a cow!
... YAY, I MASTERED IT!
Levity aside (HO HO, actually, no, lets keep the levity going XD) Which is your favourite game? Favourite moments? Characters? Etc Omgosh, Monkey Island fan talk, it's been a while

Really? Eee, I am so PROUD to share this moment with you *EMOTION* Yay though! ^___^ In terms of being a fan since it first came out, yes I'd say my dad is the oldest fan I know, hurr hurr XD Also, my buddy Lute is a big MI fan, and I know of quite a few Monkey Island/LucasArts fans on DA It's certainly not a huge, buzzing fandom like some other fandoms, but there are a lot of fans out there, and when Telltale released that game, there was a certainly sharp spike in Monkey Island fan art popping up for a while ^__^ EXPOSING THE FANS, le gasp! I'm sure there are forums and communities out there somewhere, but I've never joined them (you're right, a lot of them have fizzled out, sadly :C )
Moo.
Awww, that's cool! It's awesome to hear from a "new age" Monkey Island fan, if you will Have you ever played other point and click adventure games other than the Lucas Arts ones? I see you have some art of Sam and Max, Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle floating around! Have you heard of other games like Beneath a Steel Sky, Broken Sword and Deponia? I'd certainly like to name drop them whilst we're on the topic! (Monkey Island is still my favourite though <3 XD)
Favourite games: Eee, MI2 is also my favourite! I do have a soft spot for CMI, as I am a big fan of Murray and the insult sword fighting, and it was all exciting when they got voice acting - Dominic Armato is such the perfect voice for Guybrush, I'm glad they found him XD Tales was an amazing revelation after so long without any news of Monkey Island, so I really enjoyed that too! But yes, MI2 is my favourite! It was really exciting when they released the HD versions of the first two games ^___^
Moments: Ooohhh yeah, the 4th chapter was cool! SUSPENSE! It was awesome to see Stan make an appearance XD Tales had a lot of good moments in it. Some brilliant dialogue between the characters going on and some fun story arcs. So exciting! The whole trial thing was an awesome scene. Amongst my favourite Monkey Island moments, include insult sword fighting, Guybrush's various crews being useless, especially "A Pirate I was Meant To Be", tormenting the grave digger with Murray (in fact the whole of Blood Island is awesome), the scenes above the acid pit, the Mardi Gras party part - in fact the whole getting map pieces in that game is great! Even the insult arm wrestling with Mr Cheese in the fourth game (even if it's not as fun to play, it still had some good writing!) OMG and training for insult sword fighting in the first game against... the machiiiiineeee! Aaahh, there's so much more swimming around my head, but those were what popped out! Of course, the hidden easter eggs in the games were always great!
Characters: Awwwww, Wally! That's BLOODNOSE THE PIRATE, to you, ya yellow bellied blowfish! Hehe, poor Wally! My favourite characters are definitely Guybrush, Murray, Herman Toothrot, LeChuck and Haggis McMutton (I mean, come on, he's voiced by Scrooge McDuck a.k.a. Alan Young! That's freakin' cool!) I also like Meathook and Otis from the first game, and their reprised roles in the fourth game XD Elaine is also pretty cool. And Stan XD Baaah, I like too many characters! Also, appreciation to Lemonhead the cannibal.
They really are such fun games - I love that style of humour XD I wonder if there exists anything more on the Monkey Island horizon one day? Aaaaaaaaahhh... the seeeeaaaaaaaa...
Whooops, I guess I wrote an essay D: Sorry! XDDD

XD
Yes - it completely took me by surprise when the game was announced XD Disturbing fan art thread? *Guybrush voice*...Eeewww... Heheh XD Yeah, fan community forums generally do phase out when there's not much action going on (not always the case, but yeah, I don't know of any currently active Monkey Island forums) OMGOSH YES, it was awesome when they announced the Grim Fandango Remaster as well - thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to replay that one for years. GLOTTISSSSS!
Haha, DoTT is also cool, and amongst my favourite games. I loved that cartoony style, and the whole voice acting thing again was exciting XD I'm not a fan of Maniac Mansion though - that game was hard XD
Deponia is definitely worth checking out - it's made by a German studio, Daedalic Entertainment, who have also made a lot of other really interesting looking point and click adventures (though the Deponia series is all I have played from them) The some of the humour can be a tiny bit lost on a native English speaker, as it's translated from German, because of which, some of the pun related puzzles seem a bit obscure! Plus there is quite a bit of dark humour in it, one or two scenes in particular which might push the boundaries of some people's comfort zones and make you frown incessantly in DISAPPOINT in what this game just made you do. However, it is a very good translation, and the voice acting and characters, and story are pretty awesome XD (I'm quite fluent in German, and I felt this further added to my enjoyment of the game in places) It's totally worth checking out though! It's also got a really fun art style
Broken Sword and other games of it's series and made by the same studio are also worth checking out! A lot of good humour, tricky puzzles, and great dialogues and stories!
Yes, I agree, Gilbert is definitely The Monkey Island dude (I mean, it is his creation after all XD) and it was so awesome that he was involved with Tales! I'm intrigued about his latest project, Thimbleweed park. It is a shame that he wasn't involved in CMI, and it certainly had a different vibe from the earlier games, but it's still highly enjoyable, and it's cartoony style really stands the test of time! (Certainly a lot more than Escape's 3D venture) I like the cartoony style, personally, though admittedly, it would have been cool to see Guybrush looking more like the HD remake of MI2 XD Monkey Island 2 is still paramountly my favourite though XD In terms of Guybrush's looks in the remakes, I was disappointed with the design in the first game. They nailed it in the second, though! Dat beard <3 XD Though, I still have this strange fondness for seeing the original pixels, especially with the voice acting on top 8D The remakes were awesome, though, don't get me wrong! The scenery spruce ups were great too And yeah, Guybrush looked fantastic in Tales They did a truly spiffing job, wot wot! I especially loved the throwback to the MI2 design!
Haha! Yes, tormenting other characters was what it was all about...right? XD OMGSPOILERS. The foghorn animation always amused me as a child XD And sawing off the dude's pegleg, heh! And locking Stan in the coffin, bwaha. I love all the continuity jokes in the series as well~ It's a very rewarding series to play through, in that regard! Ahhhh! Another essay... YOU KNOW, I COULD JUST TALK ABOUT MONKEY ISLANDTM ALL DAY XD
...apparently! XD

It's hard to find people who even *know* of some of the Lucas Arts classics in general. Here in Germany they where pretty much must plays in the 90s so everyone knows them, but here on the internet, they seem to be a long lost part of history. Tis a shame :'I

Yes, it's true and I am very exited about Grim Fandango! The other ones don't really need remakes, Grim Fandango and Monkey Island 4 just need to get their terrible controls fixed.
And yes, Point and Click adventures are a huge thing here! I actually have a theory on why this is the case: I think it's because arcades never became a thing here since they are considered as gambling machines and therefor always 18+.
So pretty much everyone owned a home computer of some sort and the Lucas Arts adventures were some of the best games you could get for those.
This is also why PCs a much bigger deal here than consoles or Macs, compared to most other countries.
Though correct me if I am wrong, but I know that there are quite a few point and click adventures from Spain.
