Open has...how can I say this...a serious (?) quality about her. She seems like she intends business. I like the flow of the outfit.
Meanwhile, Flash looks rather cute and I'm trying to figure out what the #%@! that is in Direct's hand. XD Both are incredibly interesting and appealing character designs either way.

OpenGL ( Open Graphic Language ) is a Graphics Application Programing Interface ( API ) program that is used for cross-platform ( Mac, Windows, etc. ) 3D programing for Graphics, including CAD ( Computer Aided Design ) and Video Games.
Direct X is a Collection of API's used for Multimedia (the main one of which is Direct 3D, which competes directly with OpenGL API in the marketplace ). Unlike OpenGL,Direct X and it's Direct3D component is used exclusively for Microsofts Windows Operating Systems. DirectX is also the Graphics API used for Microsoft's Xbox as well.
As for the suffix "-Tan", it is a cute mispronouncing in Japanese of the suffix "-Chan", used for addressing children, used exclusively for female Anime / Manga charcters by Otaku.

"Tan" is an endearing suffix that came about from the mis-pronunciation of "chan" by children in the Japanese language. Used to personify things like operating systems, among other things, on a personal level.
Tan is cuter than chan.
