When I see women laughing at abused men, I wonder if women learned anything at all from the time THEY were the ones not being taken seriously when they tried to look for support?

People like to push the 1 in 4 women are victims of domestic abuse statistic yet forget that the same studies that state that also show that 1 in 6 men are victims too. That isn't a huge difference yet feminist groups are pushing for laws/policies that treat domestic abuse as a gendered issue (crime against a woman is treated as different and more severe than when it is committed against a man) where men are always the aggressors and women are always the victims. There are other studies that have shown that in 70% of non-reciprocal (aka one is beating up/abusing the other and the other is just a victim/abused) domestic abuse cases WOMEN were the aggressors/abusers, not men.
This double-standard bullshit has to stop... It is so sad and tragic that this happens and I want to see more support for male victims out there like we have for women, and children. Hell, there are one or two shelters in California I think that are primarily for gay men but not straight men so it seems like everyone just wants to demonize straight men without realizing that they can (and are) victims too....

Man, I remember laughing so hard at this some years ago when I first saw it.
I genuinely tought this was supposed to be humorous, nobody ever told me about domestic violence against men,
all I heard in my entire life were stories of violence against women and all that "teach boys not to rape" junk... Β I just assumed it was never the other way around...

Listen, I get you wrote this comment a long time ago, and I honestly didn't want to write a reply in case I did the whole 'Feed the Troll' situation, something I didn't intent to do but might be doing right now. The main thing I hate, and I mean completely loathe about the comments you've wrote on here, isn't directly about this Miss Silvia you're talking about. I don't know if she actually exists or if you made her up, and if she does exist then I wish her all the best in her future and hope she doesn't deal with any abuse of any sort ever again, but I'm afraid life doesn't always go as we plan, however much we wish.
No, that isn't the main reason I'm angry in this situation. What I'm angry about is the fact you're actually joking about this whole subject. To act as if it's an easy topic, as if it's a game. I may know people who've been beaten to within an inch of their lives, but that doesn't mean I can joke about it just because I know someone it happened to. Perhaps you don't know what it's like, and that's why you find it so easy to comment about, and I quote, 'Only laugh when I think of her suffering'. I agree with this, in theory. It is usually assumed that men are strong enough to defend their own rights, so there are few services available to them, and most female abusers are assumed to simply "be stressed" or "having a rough time". I've always thought the point of masculism was to destroy any stereotypes about the way man should be.

Wow. This actually....wow. I really hate to admit this, but the system is flawed and I know this because I'm in the system right now :/. My wife and I had to leave Oakland, CA recently because of all of the shootings, and I'm trans. My wife's actually in a wheelchair, so she relies on me as her sole care provider. We can't go into a shelter because they don't consider me a man or a woman, and my wife needs me to help her use the restroom, but she'd be alone coz I can't go inside so she'd have accidents because I wouldn't be able to help her.
