Description Chapter 1

"The Maiden and The Vagrant"

"Lady Mia! Lady Mia! Please wake up!" cried a voice. Her hands being shaken. She knew it's her servant, Tricia. She never failed to wake her out of her dreams. Mia opened her damp eyes and noticed it's still early in the morning. The sunlight's inviting her to go out and roam her garden. Something she would love to do. But then she remembered her dream, she gave out a sigh and smiled wryly at Tricia.

"Lady Mia. Forgive me for waking you up but I thought you were having a nightmare! I was so scared! You acted like you're drowning or something. And I suppose you were crying too." said Tricia.

"That's fine, Trish. Yeah, I dreamed about him again. That knight. But this dream's different. I was so close to seeing his face. Too bad I was so dazed that I only got to see his eyes. They're the prettiest pair of blue eyes I've seen..." The last words made Mia sad.

Tricia went towards her and touched her left cheek. "Child, I know this knight has been part of your life. But I think you got to let go of him already. He's nothing but a dream... a fantasy. You have a lot of great things to look forward to. Like marrying Prince Zenrick. You should be preparing yourself because in no time you'll be the next queen of this kingdom."

Mia frowned at Tricia. She loved her like a mother. She'd been taking care of her ever since her mother's death but still treated her like a child. Tricia was a 37 year-old bruette-haired woman who decided to dedicate her life taking care of her and the rest of the Zaoldyeck family since the death of her mother, the late Princess Felicity Vongola of the Kingdom of Natchez.

"Trish, how can I forget someone who literally haunts me in my dreams every night? You say that as if it's easy as a snap. And you know so much that I can't get rid of this dream. Sometimes I feel like I'm addicted to it... to him already."

Tricia pressed Mia's soft cheek. She loved Mia's cheeks so much. One of the features she got from her late mother, Princess Felicity. She felt her heart ache. It had been ten years since her death but she still hadn't moved on. Tricia loved Princess Felicity so much as she had been treated like her best friend than a servant. Princess Felicity was one of the most kind-hearted people she'd ever known. And extremely beautiful and brave. Everybody loved her. And she's proud to be her best knight. Yeah, she WAS a knight. Something she missed but didn't have regrets letting go. She let go of her knighthood upon Princess Felicity's untimely death. She vowed on her grave that she'd take care of her children, Grell and Mia. A decision she never regretted since she had loved the children like they're her own. She loved the Zaoldyeck Family. Lord Phorcys, their father, was also a wonderful man. No wonder Princess Felicity fell madly in love with him. They were a -------

"Hey Tricia! You're daydreaming again!" Mia said as she giggled. Tricia couldn't help herself but smile at her. If Princess Felicity's still alive, she'd be proud of what her daughter had become. Mia grew up having her mother's beauty, grace, innocence, charm and intelligence and her father's eloquence, valor and altruism. She's a perfect young lady and she had known that Mia would make a great queen in the future. "I'm sorry my little queen, I kind of lost in my thoughts." said Tricia as she pinched Mia's nose.

Mia gave a  big smile. She's happy that she had Tricia by her side right now. "Where's Father?" she asked her.

"He's preparing himself to go and see King Dragan, Lady Mia." said Tricia.

"Oh! I have to see him before he leaves! Thanks Trish." Mia got up, kissed Tricia on the cheek and ran barefooted towards the door of her spacious bedroom.

"Lady Mia! Please wear your shoes..." begged Tricia but Mia already left the room. Suddenly she heard Mia answer back from the hallway, "Catch me first and I'll wear that! Haha!"

~~~
Mia walked towards the library on which she knew her father would be at.  She smiled because her father would surely lecture her again for roaming the house in her sleeping gown barefooted. She finally reached the huge doors of the library. She held the knobs and pushed the doors open. She saw the huge painting of her beautiful mother that's just adjacent to the doors. Her favorite. She smiled sweetly at her mother's pretty face and mumbled "Good morning mother." then went to her father. As usual, her father was reading the newspaper very intently. She surprised her father with a sweet kiss on the cheek.
"Good morning father! You're so early today." She sat next to her father.
"Good morning my sweet little Lee. I have an early assembly with the king today." said her father. Her father loved to call her by her second name, Lee. It means prudence in Natchezan language. She hated being called Lee by anyone except her family. "And what made my little princess come here? And oh, again, you're barefooted. I've told you----"
"Father, I have a question." cutting off his father's sentence, "Do you know anything about a certain symbol, it's a lion with crown and wings?"
"Let's see." Her father  thought of it for a few seconds. "Oh, it's the royal symbol of the Hellinger family. The reigning monarch of the Gackt kingdom. Why do you ask, sweetie?"
Gackt Kingdom. Royalty. Great. Just Great. "Nothing father, just curious." then gave her father a devilish grin.
"Oh Lord, Mia Lee!" his father sighed, "I knew it! Please tell me you're not up to something, my child."
"No Father. I just find the symbol interesting. That's it.", she held her father's hand "Well, I think we should have breakfast now. I'm actually starving." Her father started to walk towards the door but she kept standing still.
Her father looked at her. She's looking at her bare feet. "What's wrong, my dear Lee?", her father asked.
"Will you carry me, Father?" showing her bare feet to him.
"Sweetie, you're seventeen. A young lady already. You're now too big to be carried these days." her father muttered.
"You can do it." Mia said then smiled sweetly.
Her father looked at her. With that sweet innocent smile of hers, he knew he won't be able to say no. He could carry her for sure. Then he felt an ache. Her mother, his late wife, won't be able to cuddle her daughter anymore. He looked at his daughter, Mia Lee. As expected, she grew up very beautiful and what he had hoped her to be: a young woman of wisdom. His daughter was like the physical echo of her mother: skin as white as snow, slender but strong and agile body, long sheer black hair, red lips that could entice the whole world, and eyes so violet they can be mistaken as Amethyst stones. For him it's both a blessing and a curse since he'd been continually confronted by what was essentially the ghost of his dead wife. He looked at the huge painting of his wife, Felicity, then back to his daughter. "Okey my princess, your wish is my command." and lifted his daughter to the dining hall where they ate breakfast together.
~~~
A mighty pegasus galloped in full speed with its master over the huge fields in the outskirts of Tanbarun. It's always a breathtaking sight. The black pegasus galloping mightily on earth with its wings flapped rather grandiosely as if it would fly at any moment. It's master was as grandeur, wearing an armor suit which highly suggests of being a knight. The armor was made by metal with generous gold trimmings. People that have seen the him said that his armor bore the symbol of a dragon with snake-like fangs and blazing wings. Though the armor suit was very intricate, it wasn't recognized to be part of any royal or noble family in Tanbarun or any neighboring kingdoms thus earning the name "The Vagrant".

The Vagrant was famous knight or warrior among the people of Tanbarun and was often seen wandering the outskirts of the kingdom helping people in need. He had started to appear three years ago. Though the Vagrant's identity still remained unknown to anyone, everyone treated him as their local hero. Stories about him saving people from wild animals and barbarians have spread even to other kingdoms. He's also famous for owning a black saber which has a slanted tip. Something that was never heard of. His saber had the same symbol that his armor had, a golden snake-fanged dragon with blazing wings. Men were envious of him while the women wished to be his lady. No one had ever heard The Vagrant's voice since he never did speak a single word but people, especially women, he had helped said that he exuded the finest gallantry and was very chivalrous.

He continued to run at full speed when The Vagrant spotted something. He immediately halted his pegasus to stop. He saw a beautiful young woman trapped by two lions. The young woman's back was facing a tree and she's holding a dagger towards the lions. The distance was roughly ten meters but he could clearly see the young woman's fear. She's trembling. The Vagrant then got down from his pegasus and walked towards the young woman who was now looking at him with her mouth agape but still held tightly on her dagger. The lions started to snarl at him but didn't move. He continued to walk towards the lions, his black saber still sheathed. He's less than two meters when the young woman spoke "Please Sir! Use your sword...", her voice was trembling, "these lions' fangs can still tear off your armor." For a moment he stopped and looked at the beautiful young woman who was already crying. He lifted his right hand to assure her that he'd be fine. The young woman seemed to get it and gave him a faint smile.

He continued to walk towards the lions. They were growling already. He shifted his position facing the lions and his back against the young woman. He lifted up the face cage of his helmet thus showing his face to the lions. The lions immediately stopped growling and seemed to have tamed. He patted the heads of the lions and whispered something on their ears. After that he gestured the lions to run away.

When the lions finally left he immediately put back his face cage to hide his face again. He looked at the young woman. She was now smiling. She's really very beautiful. Long blonde hair and gray eyes. She no longer held her dagger but a basket full of red apples instead. She looked to be fifteen.

"Sir, thank you so much. I owe my life to you. My name is Shiina.", said the young woman. He replied by bowing down his head.

"Sir, I suppose you're the famous Vagrant knight. Again, thank you so much. I wish I have something to repay your kindness." Shiina said. She looked very kind. He walked towards her and picked an apple from her basket and gestured to her that it's the payment. She smiled even more. After that the Vagrant returned back to his pegasus and bolted back to the fields.

They're running towards the top of the Heaven, the tallest plateau of the Tanbarun kingdom. The Heaven was an old cemetery of Tanbarun's royalties and nobles. It had to be closed 5 years ago due to a law made by the reigning supreme ruler, Empress Elma, that all royalties and nobles should be buried in the Clow Kingdom. The Heaven's situated at the top of a 200-mile tall plateau which is so tall it's always hidden by clouds thus earning its name. Still holding the apple, he commanded his pegasus to fly. It flew very swiftly in the sky and in no time they reached the Heaven. He dismounted from the pegasus, named Nitro, and it flew away to graze somewhere. Nitro knew when to return. The Vagrant walked on the Heaven, passing tombs of forgotten kings and queens, princesses and princes, knights and noble people. He finally saw what he's looking for. The most important tomb there was on the place. He went towards it and stopped for a moment to place the apple in front of the tomb. He got his saber and knelt in front of the tomb holding the saber up with his right hand. He got up and and wiped the tombstone off dirt revealing the name carved on it...

Felicity Vongola Zaoldyeck, Princess of the Kingdom of Natchez

The Vagrant removed his helmet. Revealing his face.

The Vagrant's strikingly beautiful.

Long black hair. White skin. Red lips. Violet eyes.

The Vagrant was a girl.

Mia

"Hi mother. I have a gift for you." she kissed the apple and handed it to her mother's grave.
