Stanza from the poem "Depression is an Option by MikkiMarie ".

I love this poem so much. The whole thing is beautifully written but this specific stanza is my favorite. People say that depression is in your head and to just smile and get over it, to just take a nice bath and that it will all go away. Yes, taking a bath can help calm you down, but it doesn't get rid of the pain, not really. You can't treat depression as though it was just someone feeling sad, as though it was the common cold. It is so much more than that. Depression is like a broken leg, like cancer. You wouldn't tell someone with a broken leg to just "walk it off" or someone with cancer to simply "get over it". So why do people tell those with depression to just get over it or walk it off or just smile?
