The way Lydia wears armor compared to all the other women in the game make her look both badass and sexy at the sametime. So sexy looking that you'd just want her to keep that armor after you take her to the bedroom lol

Fantasy armors, Y U have boobplates? They would deflect blows from the chest into the face.
Ebony armor is still the coolest though.

I doubt it, but you could Google around and see what mods/cheats are available for consoles.

Just give her better armour than she already has! Ditto for weapons, although sometimes she uses the best weapon for the situation (e.g. range), and sometimes she just seems to use whatever the heck she feels like
