Description An abstract explosion tutorial for GIMP. The content is copied and pasted from my post at www.azureecho.net.ms , which accounts for the boxes. My computer nearly died from the giant image size while trying to pretty this thing up. It's chopped up into 3 sections as to not have a massively tall rectangle of a tutorial.

Have fun.

PS: This tutorial has been translated into French by ~Adreqi (DayplayR) . The translated version can be found here , and a direct translation on the image can be found here.

NB: Ce tutorial a été traduit en Français par ~Adreqi (DayplayR) . La version traduite peut être trouvée ici , et une traduction directe sur l'image peut être trouvée ici.

Yep, but oh well, I'll try without that. The result is way past decent, I'll tell you that.

Thanks, great tut

Sure thing.

The scratch brush is in this pack: [link]
and wow... for some reason I can't find the Night Sky brush pack. Look around for it, or perhaps you can find another pack with stars/specks etc.

Hope that helps out, and thanks.

here's a result from a member of gimp-attitude (french gimp forum ^^) without nightsky or scratches :
[link]

thats quite nice ^^

Actually I found the scratch brush thanks to you ("It's called "Part 2-3 (Scratches)"") I just googled

Adreqi [2007-04-13 06:01:46 +0000 UTC]

wow ! thanks for the link

some french Gimpers are also looking for these famous scratches but didnt found it, anyway, they managed to create something quite nice nevertheless

(but I WILL found them XD)

omg ! I DID ! you can find Scratch brush in that pack

Miamoto In reply to Adreqi [2007-04-13 06:59:04 +0000 UTC]

I remember that pack now! Wow, all that time I had thought it was a default brush because it didn't have a pack name with it. And for that reason specifically I didn't use the Nightsky brush in the tutorial image.

Anyways, congratulations. You have a keen eye to find the brush in that preview image. I surprisingly haven't seen many results from this tutorial; be sure to tell people to contact me with their results, or if you know of any be sure to send me some links.

Got here from Pixl2Life, but I can't find the Nightsky Brush pack, nor can I find "The default scratches brush" for GIMP

Miamoto In reply to mastablasta6 [2007-04-12 05:59:10 +0000 UTC]

Pixel2Life ftw! The converted Nightsky brushes are now available at [link] and... uh... i could've sworn the scratches brush came default with GIMP. It's called "Part 2-3 (Scratches)"; if it's not default I have no clue where I got it.

mastablasta6 In reply to Miamoto [2007-04-12 09:12:22 +0000 UTC]

Hehe... I found the nightsky, but scratches... Maybe it's default with a different version of GIMP. Anyway, I finished the tut, thought it looked cool, put in a render, and then GIMP crashed

I lost it, but I'll try again someday.
