Description This is my second Barque sailing ship model project. I chose the block of basswood for this project specifically for the wood grain pattern. Basswood is generally very plain and straight grained, so this block was unique for its swirly grain pattern. For that same reason, I also chose to use a natural Danish Oil and natural shellac for the finish.

I hand carved the hull from a 10"x1.75"x1.75" basswood block. Like all my models, I cut the sails from basswood as well. I used brown button thread and brass nails for the rigging.

This model will not be sold in my Etsy shop. My aunt and uncle requested this particular piece for their lakeside cabin.
