Description This is what happens when I watch Jurassic World three times,
read up on Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur, AND talk with avid Lion King fan

This title is a parody of The Lion King.Β a re-imagining at the whole franchise if you will.
let's say the film about Dinosaurs instead of African animals.

nothing of the original movie has been changed..ONLY that Simba, Mufasa and Scar are T. Rex's, rather than Lions
so, just imagine the same movie, just with Tyrannosaurs.

Now, I would want to see THAT movie!

While dinosaurs are certainly awesome, they don't quite have the "majesticness" of lions.
I'd say you can't really make a sad movie with dinosaurs, but from what I hear "A land before time" is very good

As for "Majesticness" Well, alot of Dino and JP fans agree that a T. Rex
holds the same might and majesty as a "King" type of animal as Lions do.
(in fact, the name "Tyrannosaurus Rex" means "Tyrant Lizard King")

in fact, Jurassic World kinda ended the same way as The Lion King did.
with the T. Rex looking over the island from atop a building, and roaring ferociously at the horizon
(as I left the theater, I overheard a fellow attendant remark: "He's STILL the king.")

Lions of the King of Beasts in the modern era, yes.
but, back during the age of dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurs held that title.

just keeping the era parallels straight.

I understand what you mean,
but to me dinosaurs (especially T-rexes) are kind of dopey

This is most likely because you haven't seen the more serious animated films about dinosaurs.

Disney's Dinosaur was one example.Β that film portrayed Dinosaur more realistically
and, took place after the asteroid impact, detailing the survivors trying to reach a final sanctuary.

The Good Dinosaur is more cartoonish, yes. but also deals with mature themes
such as the father of the main character dying, and his ghost appearing later (sound familiar?)

and, the Land before Time (for me) is like "The Lion Guard" with dinosaurs as far as I am concerned.

and, of course the Jurassic Park films made clear that not all dinosaurs were Slow and Stupid.
some (like raptors) were fast, and possessed human-like intelligence.

Just have a look at these films at some point, and your perception may alter just a bit.

knew someone would make THAT connection.

well, my mentioning of the new 'The Good Dinosaur' film adds to this debate.
as from what I read, It is also a sad and emotional film with dinosaurs as main characters
(It even had T. Rex characters were were depicted a Father/Son/Daughter Rancher family.)

Also, NONE of the dinos on TGD were anthros. like TLBT (and, TLK), they were talking beasts.
