He has intimate knowledge of the hazards brought upon by the desert and the means to withstand them. It has also stood to give him an almost superhuman level of patience, giving him the edge needed for scouting and ambushing enemies, gaining him a reputation as being a sort of "ghost" who can appear one second, only to disappear back into the sands within the next like he was never there.
