Roy turned, a passively cocky smile settling onto his lips despite the gravely serious conversation that had taken place in the room moments ago. “When the rebellion begins, you are to return with me to Central.”

Riza was shocked, but promptly raised her hand and saluted him with a sharp snap of her arm to convey her gratitude. “Yes sir.”

Roy’s smile widened a bit in amusement and he slipped his hands into the pockets of his slacks, calmly walking over in front of her. “Forget the formalities,” he said. “We are past needing them.” Riza lowered her hand but was confused once again. Upon seeing the baffled look return to her eyes, Roy added simply, “Perhaps we will see if you can dance well when this is over, First Lieutenant? Do you prefer wine or champagne?”

Riza stared at him incredulously for a moment before she found her voice. “Colonel, I do not think that this appropria-“

Roy stepped closer to her, the front of his uniform brushing against hers as he leaned his face down towards her. “It is okay,” he said, the passively cocky smile still on his lips. “I will settle for a kiss until you have had time to decide.”

Riza tried to keep her usual calm and cool exterior, but she could feel the blood rushing to her face. She couldn’t take her eyes off his as he looked down at her with a slightly amused expression. It was as if he was thriving off seeing her near to squirming at his closeness. “Colonel, we shouldn’t. . .“

Oh, but we all know you want to, Riza. Stop being so dedicated to your duties and kiss the man.
