Gouache is awesome. It has its quirks, but I have much more patience with it than with oils!

Have you tried watercolor boards? They hold gouache very well.

Yeah! They have them in all kinds of sizes at Dick Blick. It cuts out the stretching time and they're easier to ship and store without worrying about warping. The only downside is cutting down to size. It's kind of a pain.

LOL - the first thing I noticed is that the main character doesn't appear to be a squid. It's not even squidish, really, is it.
Thus, I believe this to be a change from the Lyman Squid period, to the Lyman Amphibian period (Is it a toad? Is it a frog?)
