This is a tad bit late, but only by a few minutes, but March 4th, 2018 marks the 52nd birthday of the author of one of the greatest children's books worldwide, Dav Pilkey! To commemorate, i decided to draw him as a kid, based off the origin of Captain Underpants story seen in the back of the first full color book.
As a lil kid, The Captain Underpants series inspired me a lot, artwise, literaturewise, AND lifewise, as i could relate quite a bit to Dav's backstory when i read it way back. Back from grade 1-4, I was always getting into trouble and scolded for drawing on my stuff and during class, pretty much how Dav was, and although i never had ADHD like he did at one point, it was kinda hard to believe i hadn't, based on how i used to act; annoying and unlikable. Thankfully my social skills have improved drastically, and i'm not as unlikable as i used to be. And with my art & literature, i know to never give up on any of that. Everyone's got potential, as long as they don't give up on the things they love the most. <3

Also yeah, i know how many mistakes there are. I made a couple sketches of this lil guy, but probably not enough, as the origin story had only been about 10 pages, kid pilkey being on about 7 or 6 of them. I still think it's great though, it's his birthday after all! <3
