In the days of old, Celestia ruled alongside Luna as both princess devoted their lives to protect their subjects from dangerous forces that would threaten the fragile peace of the ponies. When both herself and her sister ascended into their godhood many countries surrounding Equestria took this as an opportunity to take an easy kingdom by force or so they assumed. Celestia was if not ruthless in battle showing no mercy or remorse for those who dare threaten her subjects, in the tales passed down from generation to generation there is one particular story that foretold of the unfortunate circumstances of a foolish country who almost managed to take over Equestria now it's nothing but ash with no life in sight. In her youth Celsestia came to be respect, admired, and feared by both neighboring countries and by her own subjects. With a young country that was struggling to establish itself it was necessary to place upon such an act to protect her beloved ponies.

Although both Celestia and Luna ruled together, Celstia took most of the political governing of such a small country which left Luna in charge of taking care of the welling of their subjects and their armies. This meant that Celestia was often away a lot which meant that Luna was alone for most of the time, Celestia didn't mean to ignore her younger sister but due to her duties and the many battles she was forced to fight she didn't have a lot of time to spend with her this made the young moon princess bitter of her older sister. The seeds of resentment were planted and would only grow as time stretched on and the longer Celestia ignore her sister's request to spend time with each other the more angrier Luna became.

How could the princess of the moon like herself ever hope to be as great and mighty as the powerful sun goddess that everyone respected and admired? Luna lived in her sister's shadow and struggled to fulfill her duties as she became filled with self doubt and hate. This was the fire that Luna needed to create her own army, though the Sol army was indeed powerful and feared Luna's own army was doubled the size filled with both ponies and other creatures who wished to be freed from the greed of the sun they called themselves the Lunar Rebellion and launched an attack on the capital of Canterlot in the dead of night. Celestia was woken up by the sounds of screaming and battle cries, she didn't have much time to gather her forces before Luna, now Nightmare Moon challenged her sister to a duel to the death.

Nightmare Moon and Celestia were equally matched in both magic and physical prowess this mean the battle lasted a full week with neither side giving up so easily before Celestia was forced to use The Elements of Harmony in order to save what was left of the destroyed nation. Celestia was gravely wounded, during the fight her sister managed to gouged her eye out with a powerful blast of magic that was intended to strike her heart if she hadn't dodged in the last minute, she surely would've perished in that fight. Luna's Rebellion quickly fell when their leader was vanquished to the moon the remaining forces fled knowing that what would befall them would be nothing but death. However due to Celestia banishing her sister to the moon she fell into a deep despair.

As Equestria struggled to rebuild it self, Starswirl was left to act as temporary leader until Celestia had the strength to guide her country into prosperity again. When Starswirl vanished alongside the rest of the pillars, Celestia was forced to move on and rule alone and with this came a new way of rule by leaving the rest of the world and solely focusing on helping guide her ponies into the correct path. Though her fight with Nightmare Moon has severely weakened her magic, knowing her sister's inevitable return Celestia began to take on multiple students under her wing with many students under her care she took the time to teach them and strengthen their magic. The most notable and powerful of them all is Twilight Sparkle, her magic alone is powerful and stronger than Celesta was in her prime Celestia considered her beloved student as her own daughter.

Celestia is a sweet and loving caretaker, wanting nothing but the best for her subjects. Luna's return helped Celestia move on from the past and no longer fear the unknown future though her magic has been heavily depleted caused her to be more tired than she used to be so she would sometimes end up dozing off during important meetings. She enjoys teaching the young of how Equestria used to be and watching them learn and grow always brings a warm smile to her face.

Like Luna, Celestia is the sovereign of the sun with powerful magic that tides her to the sun. Despite that her battle with Nightmare moon depleted a lot of her magical reserves so she is half as powerful than she;s supposed to be. Regardless of her weakened magic, she doesn't age thanks to her close connection to the sun and her celestial body strengthening with the flow of time.
