Description This is my entry for for the comfort-break challange by DamaiMikaz

Medium: watercolor and gouache on 300g watercolor paper

As I usually do more natural paintings or cute animal stuff I thought it was time to do a technical/metal painting.
I never tried to paint metal in watercolor so this one gave me hard time!

First I did some sketches of the Robot and the composition using references like Wall-E or old tanks or the electric wheelchair of my roommate.

For the next step I went outside looking for some old rusted metal and I found I nice old fence that had this green color peeling off and under it the metal had a orangy metal tone, wich gave a nice contrast.

Then I did some color schemes and a more detailed drawing of the robo (link below)

The hardest thing to do was to capture the effects of the gold. I wanted it to look old and had a hard time finding the right tone, cause I never painted metal with traditional mediums.

For the details I used some refs like tractorwheels and robots.

From beginning to end it took me about two weeks ( with breaks).

I hope you enjoy the finished work!
