To me the flower speaks to the promise of peace in her next life (whether that life is as a flower or a creature). It's really about the continuing cycle of life and death.

OH, what a sad story! She had such a hard life! Does that flower mean hope, or is the last one in a branch that lost all her flowers due to hardship?
