Description
The great whale emerges from the deepβ¦I wanted to strike a mythical tone with this one - as if it were the picture cunjured up after overhearing a sailer's strange tale in some firelit tavern.
A print of an original pen and ink illustration which was then painted digitally.

I love the coloring of this picture - the way you've painted the ocean looks amazing. I like how much the whale bends and that you've chosen the same colors for the "victim" and the "attacker" - it makes both the ship and the whale stand out from the water, so it's clear where the focus should be.

Woah! Immense! The intensity of the whale's eye makes him seem especially frightening. The whole scene makes me think of Moby Dick, too. I like the overall style of this.
