Description Map showing a possible future reduction and federalization of Indonesia. West New Guinea and surrounding islands (such as Aru Islands) would be annexed by Papua New Guinea. Indonesia would be divided into seven states according to geographical criteria (they don't match current province borders in some cases): Sumatra (capital city: Medan), Java (capital city: Jakarta), Kalimantan (capital city: Samarinda), Bali (capital city: Denpasar), Sulawesi (capital city: Makassar), Southern Wallacea (capital city: Mataram) and Maluku Islands (capital city: Ambon). Jakarta would also be the capital city of the federation.

All names over the map in Spanish. Some lines have been added in order to make limits clearer. If you never heard word Wallacea, read this .

A better name for country itself would be useful.

Yes, in the past Malay Archipelago was called Insulindia too. I don't like none of these two names. Really, this country exists unified because of it was the Dutch East Indies during colonial era. It's hard finding a good name for this country.

Jokowi didn't like this. But DU30 is already planning for federalism in the Philippines.
