Just to let you know that your skill and vision continue to inspire. I revisited your gallery today to enjoy browsing, as well as check out some of the ways you use borders to enhance your work. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you kindly.  I don't seem to use borders as much as I used to.  I realised that I was spending more time drawing them than the pictures inside them so sort of gave them up.  Of course, with computers it would be relatively easy to reproduce a border over and over but I always found it more satisfying to do a new one each time.  I also found it a little frustrating when doing drawings for publication; a bordered drawing had to be printed square on a page and it is amazing how many publishers couldn't be bothered to spend the time getting it right.  Do a drawing that bleeds onto the white page and the printers have to really work hard to mess it up.  (they still try though!)

Made me laugh!

As I was browsing your gallery, I saw one border without any content, and I wondered, is this a technique to avoid the dreaded artist's block? A process to stay loose and practiced? I've admired your borders and frames for the extravagant investment of time that you put into them, and was doubting that I'd have the patience.

Congratulations on the published book! What will you be working on next?

Well, not exactly artist's block, because I have (luckily) always had more than enough ideas needing the attention of some ink, but sometimes it is hard to decide which idea to do next!  The frames do not need patience just stuborness.  They were something I pegged away at at odd hours when I was unable to concentrate on a 'proper drawing'.
At the moment I seem to have a lot on.  I am doing drawings for a projected edition of Alice through the looking glass for Japan;  I have a book of 'modern' nursery rhymes to illustrate and hope to be starting on a second edition of the big book about me (!) which is hopefully going to be redone as a three volume set making it more accessible (and cheaper to buy).  I usually only expect one in three projects to actually get finished so we shall see which of these it will be.  Besides all that I seem to have embarked on something of a new career as a sort of writer(which is something of a small miracle in itself) and I am just finishing what will be my second fiction; a short story that will be published as a book in itself, with my own drawings as frontispiece, cover and other little decorations.
I suppose I should add to that list one border to be finished off with it's picture.
Hopefully I will have some new things to put up here soon.  Thanks for your interest and encouragement, both things that are always needed and appreciated.

I applaud your industriousness! I'm impressed with the amount you've taken on and look forward to seeing the culmination of all your projects: I will definitely revisit your gallery in the future.

I try my best!  The secret is not having a TV.
