When I was living up north on base.(My dad was in the Navy) our nextdoor neighbor had two Chow-Chow which my mother said were very beautiful dogs. And I owned a Malamute/Husky mix that we named Sky because she was all white and had those famous Husky blue eyes.

I agree and Hachico personified the mean of a dog's loyalty to one's master by waiting for him day in and day out until his passing at the very place where Hachico last saw his master. And did you know that during WWII this breed of dog almost went excent when its fur coat was used to line the inside of jackets that were worn by Japanese pilots.

Yes really and some families who owned an Akita actually took their dog out to where there was nothing but woods and released them in hopes of saving their family pet from being killed at the start of the war in 1939. And by the time WWII end in the Pacific a lot of these dogs had become feral packs though there puppies and some of the older dogs were able to be returned to their owners or surviving family members of their original owners. And it was from these Akita that were released into the woods is where we get today Akita breed.

Wow you know a lot about Akitas. I wish I could have an Akita but then I realized how aggressive they get around other dogs.

Its nothing really for all I did was do my research on the breed's history. And Akitas are not for first time dog owners since they are strong in both physical;y and very strong willed too. Although due to their size. Akitas do suffer from some of the same medical problems that other large working dog breeds, like blot, join wear, and the knee caps will sometime slide to one side or the other. And this dog is a heavy seasonal sheader with a double layer coat.
