Description Okay, this is something *completely* different, but I just finished him and I'm proud and I'm posting him

Anda and I also collect Asian Ball Joint dolls, I myself customize and paint their faces & bodies (and style their looks). Brandon here is a commission I did for a friend of mine on livejournal and I finally finished him lastnight.

I've been a Lee/Crow fan for 16 years (and may be cosplaying him soonish), Brandon is the only true live action Crow as far as I'm concerned, and yeah I'm terribly biased. I was a fan of his before he died when he made Rapid Fire, so his death was extremely affecting to me when it happened. It's ancient history now, but I stay loyal I guess I'm showing my age with that one

In any event, he's a BJD, made of resin. His head sculpt is an original DIM Minimee (only 10 made), painted by me. His body is a domuya Perennial in NS, also painted by me.

Nicely done. I remember when they were filming The Crow and word got out that Lee had been injured, then the story broke that he had died... so sad. I'm glad that they were able to finish filming, because The Crow (the orginal) is one of the best films ever made.
He was taken from us entirely too soon.

This doll is not only a gorgeous work of art, but a wonderful memorial to a talented actor's performance.

i'm sorta new to this hobby, and i was wondering: is cheaper to buy a body in it's whole or to buy parts and put it together?

They normally only sell bodies whole (they only sell body parts if they're special fantasy parts, like horns or robot arms). You can buy a head separate and a body separate (sometimes that's the only way you can get certain dolls.) But it really depends on what sort of doll you're going for. Some heads cost more than whole bodies, some whole dolls cost less than certain heads. It's really a buyer's market. It's best to find the doll mold you like, and then research the best way to buy that particular mold.

I love that you did the scar from the comic. I do the makeup for a friend that cosplays Crow. He does it really well and even adds the blown out eye. Very nice I've always loved this doll.

Thanks! The scar was such a big part of the comics, though they do feature it lightly on Brandon Lee if you look close (without an explanation of course.) I did it on my own cosplay as well [link] Glad to hear you do too! I love the blown out eye, unfortunately I didn't have the contacts to pull it off (or the eyes for the doll) but next time I definitely will add it ^^ (Unfortunately the doll is not mine, so I'll just have to settle for the contacts )

Well I only paint the dolls, you would have to have a bjd to send me. I charge $60 per face (though that's cheap compared to the doll itself. ) If you're interested in the doll hobby, it would be best first to know what you're getting into. LOL There's plenty of companies out there and many many artists making many molds, all different types and sizes. Take a look at the wiki: [link] and this group here on DA --> they have a brief FAQ about the BJD and a long list of companies and places to buy them. You can also browse ebay, and the Den of Angels forum is the be-all and end-all community/source of information. If after that you decide to take the plunge (I recommend doing the most research you can before spending the money) come on back and drop me a line. I can paint her up anyway you like.

well i have 7 bjd already. im actually in process of uploading them. btw, i juuuuust got done sending u another message. the thing about my dolls is that i like one of a kind dolls and the ones i have all have offical face ups because its rare to find custom painters from factory.
