Ok, so I finally was able to finish something xD.... Yay... It's been a rough couple weeks, but I have a new piece done!

Things have been pretty chaotic so I used this piece as a means to relax. I just kind of colored and colored until I felt satisfied.

I imagine most of you on here would not be familiar with this character of mine. This is kind of an odd one. It has too long of a history to explain in great detail so I'll try an summarize to not bore you all to sleep. This dragon-like character was a species of creature I created called an Otaktay. They were part of an old story I was writing. Otaktay could take any form (Or not even a specific form at all). They always had large mouths and their diet consisted of human flesh (Lovely? Yes). These monsters kind of just roamed around and ate when they were hungry. They were not the most sentient of beings. Very straight forward: "Kill something and eat it" lol...

This dragon Otaktay I grew fond of and I've continued to visit it's design even after I discontinued the story it was from. I will post some links to my older drawings and sculpture. His look has always changed or varied from drawing to drawing and media to media.

I also have different variation of him. I sculpted an aquatic version of him out of Laguna clay. He was a fully fired ceramic piece, but unfortunately some putz didn't mix the glazes correctly and another putz didn't pay attention to the kiln... So my little dragon didn't come out looking right along with many other people's pieces. I do have drawings of the aquatic one, but none that I ever uploaded. Chances are they are buried in a sketch book somewhere.

Where did the inspiration come from? The design itself was inspired by Haku and No Face from Spirited Away. The idea though actually came from another artist on Deviantart:

At the time I had also been seeing a lot of what I'm going to call "Puppet Figures" since I don't know their actual name. They often times have hand sculpted parts and movable joints, but they are covered with fur. This was kind of the ideal form that I imagined this guy in. One day I would like to try to make one myself to really do my Otaktay justice.

So what of this character today? I'm not entirely sure of my plans for him. I've never found a name fitting enough for him, so he does not have one. I still refer to him as an Otaktay because a friend gave me the idea and it was a nice memory to be working with my friends on my story together.

I don't look at this character and consider it a man-eater anymore. I kind of see this Otaktay as a creature that has been misunderstood. It is fear by people and thought of as a man-eater, but due to shape of its teeth it actually is an herbivore. This creature does not live a long life. It only lives to be 10 years, or can die of natural causes. However, it will reincarnate into another elemental themed Otaktay in the cycle (Kind of like the water one I mentioned earlier. Looks similar, but it's attributes will change based on the element and environment it lives in).
