Description Finally the second entry to the Whimsical Journeys series!
Fantasia (or Fantastica, depending if you're more familiar with the book or the movie) from the Neverending Story.
My interpretation of the Ivory Tower was inspired the 70's-vision-of-the-future style, which I'm crazy about. And since both the book and the movie are from the 80's, I wanted to get a bit of the 80's-tackiness in there also.

Whimsical Journeys:
-Neverland
-Fantasia
-Hundred Acre Wood
-Land of OZ
-Wonderland

Fantasia, IMHO, is not just any Disney film. It is one film that deserves a LOT more respect, such as a broadcast on Turner Classic Movies someday. Brilliant poster, btw, really reminiscent of concept art Nicholas Roeg once commissioned for a film version of Flash Gordon he attempted once and not to mention, classically, German expressionism.

Listen to the music of Klaus Goldinger from the movie while watching this. The Ivory Tower or Der Elfenbeinturm. Trust me, You'll love the picture twice as much in no time. As for the picture, I love the glow you gave the tower. Reminds me of the glow of the tower in the movie.

You know, looking at it again, it actually reminds me of the 1960's era advert for Space Mountain at Disneyland. I think they both have similar architectural features. Lots of spirals and spires.

indeed, Tomorrowland was part of what inspired me for this one.

I am not familiar with the story, but out of all the posters this must be my favourite. Usually I'm all for colours and stuff, but there's something in this limited colour palette that fascinates me. The feel of the 80's just crowns the whole design!

Oh, and the glow is kewl.

I think I've briefly seen something of that movie though, now that I thought of it, 'cause I remember a white fluffy dragon. But nothing else.. I'll really have to see it finally, now that I know the name and all!
