Description "The Duck Man is a beggar in Ankh-Morpork, who unlike Foul Ole Ron, talks like an intellectual. He is the most coherent of the Canting Crew; he can estimate how much food can be bought with a certain amount of money. It is possible that someone who sits down blindfolded with the Duck Man at the same table can carry out a normal conversation on a non-personal and non-controversial topic without finding out that the Duck Man is a beggar (no longer in the Beggars' Guild) who is considered insane.
The reason that the Duck Man is called the Duck Man, and considered insane, is that there is forever a duck sitting on top of his head, though he insists that there is not. Other small clues such as that he cannot recall his past will not be observed except in an extensive conversation. Confused memories of a time before he became the Duck Man occasionally arise, but are soon disregarded. The Duck Man is quite happy as he is.
For unknown reasons the Assassins' Guild has a substantial price on his head, although he is probably safe as few assassins would want to be recorded as assassinating a beggar. "

Yay, the Duck Man! I love how you made it look like a Renaissance painting of some lord or baron...until you see the duck. Is it just me, or does he look a little like William Shakespeare...?

Same here, like a hybrid of Shakespeare and Marlowe. Then again, I am big fans of both so I kinda see them everywhere anyway. :3

I keep seeing this guy who looks like Neil Gaiman in my town, but I know it's not him because this fellow is in Scotland. Sorry for the late reply, by the way. I was on vacation.Β

That's the first time I see the Duck Man looking quite so dashing This is a great portrait, with enough details to make it unique but not too many so it doesn't feel crowded (do I make sense?). I really love it, great job

lol great story! I wonder if he just wears it and says that just to mess with people. if I chose to be a vagabond I would want to keep myself entertained on some level.

on another note; I've met a lot of bums and, for the most part, they are just normal dudes who didn't want to do things the way that the man said that they had to be done. this one guy I met had just lost everything that he owned. he had been a small time music producer from the other side of the united states. starting out he had played various back up instruments for some of the biggest names of our day in the recording studio. the guy that he was with had just fallowed around the Grateful Dead since the 60's... I was surprised to find out that I had met the guy before at a commune when I was 13.
interesting people... yet they were sharing a cold can of cream and chicken soup when we were saying our goodbyes.
