This is a portrait of the Swedish singer/songwriter/musician/producer/etc. Laleh.
She's very popular here in Sweden right now and has won all kinds of awards,
like "artist of the year" and "song of the year" (for the song "Live Tomorrow").
I think that she's very charming and beautiful and that's why I painted her.

I love how you use such high contrast in these paintings. It's a very distinct style, and I think it's awesome.

Thanks. I think contrast makes pictures look more interesting. At least in paintings. I always use both pure black and pure white in my pictures.

I'm thinking the color scheme could be tweaked just a little, great composition though, the outline of her hair on the left might look good as a light blue, or maybe add another strip past the purpleish highlight..... hmm I dunno if thats whats bothering me or not... ha, yea taking pictures of paitnings sucks.... I feel ur pain nice work

I dunno, I think with an added strip of light blue to highlight that side this might work quite well- at least for me- anyways keep experimenting either way- with your style throwing in a splash of odd color here or there could make things really interesting once you find the right approach! this painting reminded me a lot of one I saw from a fellow student the other year- it was set up like yours half and half- one side orange one side blue, and the portrait was in those colors, but then also squares of the opposite color also faded into the other side and into his face, etc... made it look quite cool, farely simple idea but the affect is great- anyways I still like this one- and we all know how hard it is too make paintings look proper with pictures so don't get dwn about it!

I have learned that it's hard to take photos of dark pink things. They always look purple or dark red instead. Light blue might work, but I'm not sure about the purple... pink + red + purple isn't the perfect combination I think.

Well, I'm just experimenting a little with the colors. So far not too many people seem to like it.

yeah, the colors aren't that great and the photo just makes them worse. they go together much better in reality. thanks anyway.

yeah it's pretty difficoult to take good photo of a painting... especially when it's very big and glossy, I've made one quite glossy acrylic painting 2x2 metres, and it's simply impossible to take a picture of it so I can't show it to anyone but anyway, I like this one a lot, as well as everything else you do. Keep up good work, I look forward to seeing more!
