With messed up rendering settings and after 22 hours of rendering on a Mac without a graphics card, it finally finished rendering. When I started rendering it in the evening, I thought it was going quickly and would be done overnight. I woke up when it was at 50%. And honestly, if I had lowered the rendering options, there probably wouldn't have been any difference at all. At least I'm satisfied with how it turned out.
