The afternoon was warming up considerably as Aisha headed to the stallion barn to fetch her horse. She had done her morning chores and had whizzed through her portion of the mucking out. Needless to say, the other staff were glad they had someone on side who could muck out as fast as them, someone who did not dordle around and get in the way. The woman rubbed some sweat from her brow as she brought the large Hanoverian from his stable and led him up to the tying area. He was starting to settle into his new home. They had only been there a few days, but Aisha was starting to feel a little less like a stranger. It was nice to be in a place where no one judged her.

She tied the stallion up and fetched his tack. She had groomed him earlier that morning, and Parry wasn't one to lay down so he was still clean. She slipped his bridle on smoothly, and went to place the saddle on his back when she heard footsteps. Peering around Parry's muscular bottom, she could just see Lee checking on one of the stallions. The young woman sighed and placed the saddle on Parry's back. She was so focused on tacking up the horse that she did not notice that Lee had appeared beside her until she turned around. She gasped slightly and Parry snorted, but then she scowled at the man. "Do people around here always creep up on each other," she said in a disgruntled tone, checking her stirrups. Lee grinned and leaned on the tying rail.
"Nah, just now and then. You heading out to train him?" The man rubbed Parry's nose as the stallion went to sniff him. Aisha eyed him suspiciously, but nodded slowly in response. "Cool, mind if I watch?" His question was met with a small sigh, and a gentle shake of the head.
"Nah, feel free." Aisha took Parry's reins and led him towards the exit, Lee at her side.
"How are you liking it?" He probed gently. The younger woman fiddled with the reins in her hands slightly and shrugged.
"It's nice, I like it around here," she said quietly as they walked out into the sunshine. Parry threw his head up and snorted as he caught all the sights, sounds and smells of the stables, but Aisha hushed him gently and guided him towards the large outdoor ring. Lee moved ahead of her to get the gate, and she thanked him quietly as she stepped into the sandy manege. The vet shut the gate behind her and then hopped up onto the fence to watch. He was curious about the woman; something about her just wasn't normal.

Aisha nervously ran her stirrups down and pushed herself up onto the stallion's back. Parry appeared agitated, side-stepping and throwing his head around as she asked him to move forwards. She sighed and gave him a little more force with her legs, causing him to jolt into an agitated trot before she settled him into an aloof walk. "Just relax!" Lee called to her. She glanced over her shoulder and managed a smile, but Parry felt about as nervous as she did. She didn't like being watched. She always kept to herself and rode in private. She should have known she'd have an audience at Firelight, as they all seemed to watch each other. She relaxed her reins slightly, but that was all the excuse Parry needed. With a shrill whinny, he launched into the air with all four feet off the ground, his rear flying up in a tremendous buck. Taken by surprise, Aisha gasped as she saw the ground heading towards her. The woman landed in an awkard heap as the stallion took off around the ring in a series of nervous bucks. Lee dashed towards Aisha as she sat up, apparently unhurt other than her pride. He crouched beside her, and offered a smile. "Told ya to relax," he chuckled, offering her his hand. She hesitated for a moment before accepting his offer and pulling herself up. Her hand felt different, he thought, to a normal woman, and his suspicions rose. He had never been this close to Aisha, but Lee had been with enough men and woman to notice the difference. He kept hold of her hand as he started at her, into those shocking blue eyes. Aisha was defensive, a small scowl on her face as she tried to break his grasp.
"Let go," she hissed gently, shaking away his hand. She rubbed down her jeans and looked over to Parry, who was stood nervously by the fence.
"Aisha," Lee said quietly. She looked around at him and he smiled at her. "Let's go catch him," he said easily as he moevd towards the stallion. The young woman watched him, somewhat bewildered. She knew that Lee had worked it out, and yet he took it so easily.
"Lee," she called after him as she moved to his side. "Lee... look, I didn't want to tell anyone." The man shrugged as he gently took the Hanoverian's reins.
"I knew there was something strange about you," he said quietly as he arranged the reins and handed them to Aisha. The girl nodded slowly and sighed.
"Yeah... I used to be a boy, that's how I ended up here. Daddy doesn't like that his only son is now his only daughter." She took the reins and swung back up onto Parry's back. Lee grinned and patted her leg.
"Well, no one cares here. You're just Aisha to us," he chuckled, moving back to the fence. The woman laughed and walked the horse on. She didn't really know how to react to it all, other than to laugh. She had never expected it to be so easy to be herself at Firelight, but now Lee knew, as well as Adam and Aithne. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all.
