My submission for competition. This time the theme was gems.Sometimes I think that we care for things or find them beautiful for the wrong reasons. Jewels is one of these, sure they're pretty and look hell good on one's neck but still they're quite useless most of the time and have no true value when it comes to a purpose. Then I started thinking about what to do and the picture of a girl decorating a dead tree with precious gems came to my mind. As for the story behind it, I just couldn't think exactly why she'd do such a thing. Maybe she thought that precious stones looked prettier than leaves or maybe there are no more living trees in her world and she wants to restore some of its beauty in the only way she can think of.

I like her work, looking at her paintings there's always something to learn, but not a fan. I'm a fan of people like Rebecca Guay or Patrick Woodroffe amongst other traditional painters. Though I do digital now, traditional will always be the love of my heart.

This is a very neat idea. I love the tones and her pose is really nice too. I love the realism of her dress and the way you did the back of her arm. The tree is neat too, sort of sad looking. For some reason I am also very fond of the rocks you drew on the ground, they look so slick and real. Beautiful job.

It took me about a week, I guess. Believe it or not, the tree was the hardest part to do.

Jewels may not be useful, but gemstones certainly are. Rubies are quite important for making lasers, who can be used to save people. Diamonds are used for many scientific purposes. And so on <3

gems are a way of inviting the opposite sex to look at us. makes them aware ofour bodies and let them know we're aware of it as well. it's a whole evolutionary thing. personally, i love shiny things on my body! I went to college with a girl who had a jewel put into her front tooth! anyway, this is absolutely beautiful.. i definately have to fav it. it's just so delicate.
