My entry for DrMistyTang ’s contest. I’ve followed and loved her work here on dA for years, and it was the perfect opportunity to FINALLY get to draw these guys (and of course I left it all to the last minute, the deadline is tonight! ).

If you’re familiar with my usual style… well, you can tell this isn’t it! I tried to be creative… and in my case that often means trying to be closer to the original artist’s style. Not that I’m saying this looks anything like Misty’s style, because it doesn’t. But I stepped away from vectors; the lineart and colouring were both done freehand with a textured brush.

It’s funny, I saw SenshiStock ’s deviation shortly after deciding I’d try drawing Luke AND Mike, and it was the perfect pose for what I wanted! And then, when I looked through Misty’s Grey Eyes gallery for references, I realised she’d posted quite a few pieces that had similarities with what I wanted to do, so I knew I had to do it. My only regret is that I didn’t get to show Luke’s beautiful eyes. I guess I’ll just have to draw him again for fun!

I have no idea what the future holds for these two in the comic (and I’m dying to find out!!), but I’m sure there’s plenty of heartache coming their way so I wanted to give them a moment of peace…
