I've been wanting to do a Romeo and Juliet themed PT fanart for a long, long time now. I always felt that the pairings in PT have a ballet associated with it. For Tutu/Mytho and alternatively Rue/Mytho it was Swan Lake, while for Ahiru/Fakir it's Romeo and Juliet. And having seen a production of R&J ballet in person I felt really compelled to draw something for the Fakiru pairing. Then right around finals last week I finally got to drawing it.I did the character sketches in pencil, scanned it in and colored it in Photoshop. The motif on the background was something I drew myself because I couldn't find anything to fit the picture.
I chose the lilies to symbolize the purity of Romeo!Fakir and Juliet!Ahiru's love. The text in the background are actual quotes from the play, spoken by the two characters. P.S. Romeo und Julia is German for Romeo and Juliet in case I got anyone confused.

this pic is beautiful I love the idea of having Fakir and Ahiru as Romeo and Juliet I've never read the book or seen the ballet but I know the story and I really think it suit's the Pairing of Fakir and Ahiru great job once again

I like it, but it's not one of my favorites of yours. The symbolism and imagery is cool and I like it. I like Ahiru as Julia. Well drawn. Hmm...What is it? I think just don't like the composition as a whole - maybe the background color is too neutral for me. Or I feel like it should be lighter/darker. I dunno, somehow seems lacking in something (How's that for vague?).

Fakir and Ahiru work perfectly for Romeo and Juliet! (One silly question, whose role would Mytho play? Paris? X3 )

I was trying to match characters from PT to character in R&J because I would like to do a Japanese fan-made light-novel type thing. I was thinking Mytho could be Paris and Rue would be Tybolt, except of course, as a woman. XD;; And instead of Montague vs. Capulet, it will be Drosselmeyer's descendants ala Fakir and Autor and the Prince and Raven story character, that is, Ahiru/Tutu, Mytho/Siegfried, and Rue/Kraehe. The only thing is I'm trying to make it all work but so far the plot isn't coming out very well.

Thanks! I am thinking about doing a fan novel with illustrations, and have this as the cover. But so far the plot bunnies aren't being forth coming.

Cool! It's ok, even though it may be a little cliche, you could do an alternate universe of Princess Tutu and have the cast play characters in the story of Romeo and Juliet! Hope that helps the gears to turn!

That's what I thought too, but I want the characters to retain their PT personalities, because Fakir sure as heck is no Romeo. XD That and setting up a plot parallel to the original play is tough.

True coming up with a plot would be difficult and you're right, Fakir is no Romeo 
But I didn't say I didn't have an idea! I think he ought to get thrown into the story of Romeo and Juliet (curtosey of Drosselmeyer for his own amusement) and puts the whole PT cast in the story. Fakir is the only one who has retained his memory of the real world while everyone else has only known their roles in the play they're currently in. However, everyone's distinct personalities stay in tact. Thus a twisted version of Romeo und Julia! (wow this is a long comment)

This is so beautiful. And it almost seems a cross between Princess Tutu and the anime Romeo x Juliet. I just thought that because of the iris in Ahiru's hand. It's a rather large symbol in the anime.
I saw the Romeo and Juliet ballet not too long ago. I think it's a lovely idea to have place Fakir and Ahiru as the story's protagonists.
