I decorated the top of this hinged wooden box with polymer clay and dichroic glass. The shimmery color comes from powdered pigments. They really pop on black clay!I own the copyright to this image and it may not be used in any way, in part or in whole, without written permission from me.

Did you pre-bake this top piece and adhere it after? Or did you bake the whole box? I've been wanting to try something like this, but I wasn't sure how to approach it. I know sculpey bakes at an exceptionally low temp so it /might/ be fine. I'd appreciate the input!Β But more importantly... This is stunning! Your use of color and form are superb! ^.^Β

Thank you! I actually baked this one right on the box. You have to be careful though as the wood can warp. For journals, I make the clay piece separately and then attach it once it is cool and you could do the same with a box, just be sure to keep it flat. Have fun!
